The Pinot Blanc from our Nussern vineyard is crisp, refreshing, and a truly versatile culinary talent at the table.
Bright golden yellow; charming fragrance of apple and pear, on the palate full and juicy with beautiful aromas of soft nuts supported by some fresh citrus, long, fruity finish. With this wine you can hardly do anything wrong when it comes to your food-choice. It fits perfectly to almost every dish.
THE VINEYARD „In Nussern” offers a marvellous view to Marchfeld. The pannonian climate of the Marchfeld still has its effect here and leaves ist marks. THE SOIL is loamy. The vineyards have green-cover, which is opened only at extreme
THE VINES have been approx. 43 years old and are cultivated in a dense of around 4.000 vines/ha. To profit from the rising ground-heat and to reach a high foliage-wall we use a trellis training system at about 60-90 cm and apply the guyot cutting system.
The year 2017 started with a very dry winter and a quick shoot. Unfortunately some of our vineyards were damaged by late frosts in May. Still, the remaining shoots thrived well, even as the hot summer did show some very dry weeks. In some vineyards, our new drip irrigation could help here to avoid the worst. Just before harvest we got some rain, which brought the ripeness up quickly. Altogether we have here a very good vintage with powerful, fruity white wines and very dark, full red wines.
THE HARVEST took place by the end of September at 21,5°KMW. The grapes were selected directly in the vineyard.
IN THE CELLAR the grapes have been destemed and squeezed and must was standing approx. 6 hours before being pressed by a pneumatic press with low pressure. Fermentation took place with automatic temperature-control at 19°C. The wine was stored in stainless steel and was bottled in our cellar in Burgundy-bottles.
